Launched in October 2014 in collaboration with NTUC Health, the LIFE After Stroke programme aims to enhance the well-being and quality of life for stroke patients in the community. The programme incorporates the “Learn, Interact, Flourish and Engage (L.I.F.E.)” components through self-empowerment, meaningful interactions, peer support, group activities and outings, group exercise sessions supervised by therapists, and educational talks by doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and stroke survivors.
- Learn – Hear from doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and stroke survivors as they share information on a broad scope of stroke-related topics.
- Interact – Meet other stroke survivors, share your experieces and challenges, and receive encouragement from your peers in a safe and supportive environment.
- Flourish – Experience group exercise sessions organised and supervised by physiotherapists, occupational therapists and music therapists.
- Engage – Participate actively in activities regarding stroke care and self-empowerment, such as knowing how to measure one’s blood pressure, how to handle medications and cooking demonstrations. The programme may also include outings and “makan” sessions.
